Thunderbird v0.9 on OS X 10.3.6

I've installed this version of Thunderbird and it seems to be working 
very well.  Two questions:

1. It doesn't matter how I configure the privacy features for blocking 
remote images. The images do not display. Is this a bug?

2. Animating the dock icon works, but only to a point... The little 
green ball pops up and tells me that there are X new messages, BUT it 
only calculates that number once. What I mean is that if additional 
email comes in after the initial number is set... the icon does not 
modify the current number of unread messages. Is this a bug?



If I should ask these questions else where, just let me know which alias 
and I'll go there.
