Bookmarks Populating my Profile Folder

My Mozilla profile folder has for some reason, started filling up with 
bookmarks... They are numbered in this format:bookmarks-1.html, 
bookmarks-2.html, etc... I just noticed it by chance, cleaned them out 
but checked back a few days later is it was up to a hundred or so!!

Does anyone have any idea on what might be causing this?
