<snip>
I tried an experiment with this and I think it failed. If anyone has
suggestions, I would be glad to hear them.
I downloaded the STIX fonts from where mozilla hosts them and unzipped
the file. I took the source to the "allGlyphs" page on the STIX project
page and changed the CSS to refer to a downloadable copy of the files
for the font data.
This page is at:
http://www.wykiwyk.com/stix/allGlyphs.html
Of course, I do not have a reference for the glyphs. If someone knows
where a PDF or graphics can be found which show what the STIX glyphs are
supposed to look like, it would be appreciated.
What I can see now is that downloadable fonts do work in a copy of
Firefox I checked out and built on Nov 20. I can verify this with the
pages referred to in the article:
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/cssatten
But when I load the modified allGlyphs page in FF 3.0.4 and in my built
latest, they look the same. And a bunch of characters do not render.
Perhaps the issue is with OpenType fonts. I can see that there are some
reftests for font-face but they all used "ttf" files and not "otf".
Perhaps there is some other issue.
Well, that spot on the wall is making my head sore. At least for now.
cheers - ray
