If you can live without plugins, I think disabling them all is the way to go. Like Chris P pointed out, it prevents them from even being queried directly, which was possible even when the enumeration was disabled. Disabling Flash and Java in-browser is a huge privacy and security win too. Flash allows for font-harvesting and supercookies. Both plugins are popular channels for 0-day exploits.
