hi, This posting refers to the effects of allowing Mozilla to make itself the default browser. This seems to me the most appropriate mailing list, but it is not quite an obvious fit and if I have got the wrong one please accept my apols and tell me where I should have posted this. I have three graphics packages on this machine, running under win-98. File types had previously been set so graphics files would open by default in the browser, but I also had set up associations so that right clicking on the file would give me the choiceof opening the file in Adobe-photoshop, in Gimp, and in MS-PhotoEd. When Mozilla (build ID 2002102608) offered to make Mozilla my default browser, I expected the .htm .html files to be associated with the lizard instead of with IE. I also was not surprised that it changed the association of the open command for each of these file types. What I did not expect, and what I think is quite user-hostile, is for it to discard all the alternative actions. There is not even an option to print (not even using Mozilla), where before I had right-click menu options for print, adobe, photoEd, and Gimp. Please can this be reconsidered? The "open" action should be changed of course, but print should be left alone (or at least replaced with a viable Mozilla based print option), and so should any other actions. The total annihilation of the alternatives is not the same as replacing the default! River~~
