Editing the location bar's URL history

I have a question. In the prefs.js file, under Netscape 4.7x I could 
edit the URL history for the location bar. In Mozilla 1.1, I see the 
same entries listed and can edit them as well. BUT, the entries in 
prefs.js have become static (unchanging) and do not reflect what is in 
the location bar history (drop down list). Where can I find where the 
drop down list is stored and possibly edit the list (mainly to get rid 
of mistyped sites?
