relative paths

Why does the pref.js file use absolute paths instead relative path ?

Some times I´ve tried to copy my profile and I had to edit my prefs.js 
file to match the paths. And also tried to use the same profile under 
Windows and Linux using a new vfat partiton, but I had to use 2 
diffrenet prefs.js files.

Would not it be very usefull ?
