will repost there. THANKS. I have used Netscape 4.xx (4.8) for the last few years. The default subdirectory for storing all user profiles, preferences, and email is determined during the setting-up of a user profile. The NICE feature of this is that ALL addresses, emails, et cetera, can be setup to use the Netscape directory or other for performing a BACKUP to save email et cetera. The newer versions of Netscape, and Mozilla (I checked), by default store all this information in the Windows directory. Secondly, it is NOT easy to change to a new directory. Lastly, it appears darn near impossible to redirect Netscape/Mozilla to use an existing profile that is located other than the default directory under Windows. Problem: system crash losing ALL of Windows and subdirectories. Losing ALL of Netscape/Mozilla profiles!!! Suggested Solution: MAINTAIN the SEPARATE INTEGRITY of Netscape/Mozilla Profiles. I lost several years worth of email, bookmarks that were unrecoverable under this system. Fortunately, I had a backup of 4.8 files. I have since restored all but a few weeks worth of email and stuff, AND I've gone back to version 4.8 IF this is too complicated a problem to resolve by GETTING the HELL OUT of the Windows directory, I will NOT be using any version of Netscape or Mozilla in the near future for my email. KEEP THIS in mind WHEN you SLEEP with Microsoft!!! IMHO...
