Using Netscape with Proxies

I'm trying to set up my home network to use a proxy.  That way my
computer doesn't have to be on all the time.  We'll use an old Pent150
as a proxy server.

However, everything I've tried has only been about 70% effective in
most protocols, or unstable.

What luck has anyone else had with home networks, proxies, and
NETSCAPE.
