I hope someone who works on Moz reads this.
It's depressing to hear the glib useless answers this poor
fellow got after the horse was out of the barn.

The system crash may or may not have been caused by Moz, but
this is one of Moz's worst philosophical problems, and it's
getting worse.
Files are splattered everywhere, with absolutely no benefit.
Some are even in different places on different versions of
Windoze.
Lately they started using the (yech) Registry, so you can't run
Moz from a portable drive or from a different partition.
This started when they needed to separate out Gecko for the
'Birds. Duh, there are better ways!

Profiles and everything else belong inside one Moz directory by
default, with the option to put them in a given user's folder
under \Documents and Settings.
Use .INI files, NEVER the Registry.
Gecko goes under \Mozilla. Firebird goes under \Mozilla.
Thunderbird goes under \Mozilla. Composer goes under \Mozilla.
Etc, etc.

Sleep with Microsoft and you'll sleep with the rest of its
failed challengers.
