How do I change the font in the folder/thread panes of mail?

I'm not sure if this is the right group...
How do I change the font in the folder (left pane) and the thread (top
right pane) in the Mail-News client to a different size? On Windows the
sizes were fine, but on my debian linux system (default KDE setup) the
fonts are too large.
Unrelated (and certainly off topic), does anyone else have problem with
the folder search ("Subject or Sender contains:") under linux? This
worked on Windows.
Mozilla 1.6 final.
