I really appreciate your help, Jay.  I still can't get my newsgroup 
threads to stay the way I want them to.

All I want is to be able to have my messages in the descending order of 
the original post with each thread reponse directly linked below the 
post that is being replied to in expeanded thread form.  It seems like 
I'm always trying to change the sorting order (Views>Sort By>) to get 
what I want.

I tried your method and it seemed to do the trick.  Until I closed 
Thunderbird and went back in.  The new messages were not as I had set 
them.  I'm not giving up yet, but it is frustrating.  I'm still running 
OE until I make a final decision on whether I should change readers.

Again, thanks for you advice.  I have posted to several boards and 
groups looking/asking for help, you have been the only one to offer 
viable advice.
