Minimo + XUL help mucho appreciated

On behalf of the project that I work for, eduvision
(http://www.eduvision.or.ke), (that is trying to develop a technology
platform to distribute educational material to the remote corners of
Africa -- of which Familar/GPE/Minimo and many other fruits of many of
your hard labour. Asante sana.) I need to ask a favour of someone. I
made some noises to this effect last week, but it was late in the Minimo
feedback thread and I didn't ask very explicitly. Actually, if possible
I have a favour and a couple of questions. 


1. Favour: Can someone build me a version of Minimo more or less on par
with the version that ships with 0.8.2, **but that includes support for
XUL**? Our end-user content reader is based on Minimo and done in XUL.
Currently, though, we're stuck with a build from November. Among other
things it's really slow. This is a fair amount to ask of someone, but
I'm stuck, can't get it to work, (I have a Mac laptop, I'm traveling,
and don't have access to our linux machines. Moreover, I've never built
something like Minimo before.) I will eternally grateful.


If I change --disable-xul into --enable-xul in my mozconfig it fails to
build. Try asking the minimo people (e.g. Doug Turner) what's up with
XUL support in minimo.

2. Questions: I posted this a while back, anyone have any ideas/

wait a minute... does this mean that (either through the more legit
method using gconf/gconf-dbus, or through a perhaps ugly hack) I could
somehow map a hardware button combination to: (1) bring up/take down the
onscreen keyboard, (2) switch minimo (I'm using a custom minimo, older
than the one that comes with the default 0.8.2/h3900 image, because I
need XUL support) to full-screen mode?

if so, my life just got much easier....

i would really like to use it - it seems to work and the memory
footprint is not

Normal gconf (using Orbit) is no option.





Isn't gconf-dbus already in upstream CVS ? Does the same problem apply
for gnome-vfs over dbus ?




Until we know more about the future of gconf-dbus i'll add support

matchbox key configuration files to gpe-conf. That should be pretty
easy and i
think for now we can survive living with a quick hack, but it would
be nice to
switch to gconf-dbus in near future.

edit /etc/kbdconfig )
