Symbol font in SVG

Alarm! I have often used the font-family:Symbol in SVG, which Firefox
used to interpret as equivalent to the standard postscript Symbol font
(greek and mathematical characters). Now suddenly, with  Firefox
3.0.3, the Symbol font-family displays exactly like the Times font, as
if the Symbol font is no longer supported. For my applications this is
a disaster. Could the postcript Symbol font be restored?
