Dear Chris,
I checked: the Symbol font still exists in SVG, but is equivalent to
Times, so there is no reason to use it. The usual fonts: Times,
Helvetica and Courier all support the Greek and mathematical symbols.

These are very convenient and work well in SVG. I am very grateful for
