Re: Mozilla stuck in German!

ok.  While I have the english version, it looks as though what you need 
is a Language Pack.

The way to the 'Preferences' is (in the English version) 'Edit' and then 
'Preferences' (the bottom option).
'Edit' is the second button from the top left next to 'File' which is 
presumably 'Datei' in German, 'Edit' could be 'Bearbeiten' and 
'Preferences' will be 'Einstellungen'.

Now you want the first sub-option under 'Einstellungen' which will be 
(according to Christian Biesinger) 'Aussehen'.

Take the bottom option in this sub-menu, it will start of with something 
like 'Sprache'.

This is where you set your 'Language Packs' and 'Content Packs'.  The 
first one is the one you need to change.  If English is offered there, 
you are home dry.  If not, you will have to download and install the 
appropriate pack ('Download' will contain the word 'laden', maybe as 
'Herunterladen' at a guess).
I just downloaded the German pack and it is almost 15MB.

Now it gets confusing: The language pack is set up for some 
(sub)directory called 'mozilla' which contains directories such as ipc, 
res, searchplugins, greprefs, components, chrome, defaults, init.d and 
plugins.
I don't know where they are supposed to go - my setup is has all of 
those subdirectories under /opt/mozilla/lib rather than /opt/mozilla itself.
Whatever you do, take a backup of the mozilla tree first :-)
