qwerty and meta-accents

Hello all,


I use a qwerty keyboard and I'm used to typing accents with the
alt key (meta key on Sun). Example: Alt + i = é.

When entering information in a text field, alt combinations don't
work. I tried to follow some instructions from Mozilla's site, but
I couldn't find any specific help on this subject and my attempts
failed.

Surely I am not the first one to wonder about this.


Do you know of a solution for this problem ?
