Well, in theory it should have worked the same way as copying the file 
over. I am only suggesting the copy method as mozilla may attempt to 
write back to the file which can make things worse sometimes.
If you use the ln -s method, make sure that only read access is granted 
to the original file, so mozilla won't be able to write it.
Again, in theory, symlinking should work as well.
I have never tried it, but maybe I will when I get home tonight.
