loading mailto links from firefox in thunderbird

I'm using FF 0.10.1 and Thunderbird 0.8 on Fedora Core 2.
I packaged it as rpms per the instructions from fedoranews.
It works OK, but when I click a mailto-link in FF it doesn't open a new 
compose window.
I have checked "Preferred applications" to use "Thunderbird Mail", and 
the greyed out box says thunderbird -mail %s

What am I doing wrong?
