Download manager - too big!

Is there any way to prevent the download manager window being so big
when you open it?  Also I don't really want all that history.  I much
preferred the old download wondows that just showed what you were
doing *now*, is there any way I can the old behaviour back?

OK, I can change the size of the window etc. but it would be much
nicer if it started up the way I want it.
