I'm fairly convinced this is some weird fluke or corruption in this
particular install of Mozilla.

First, the outside web page is completely and wholly unrelated to the one
that appears. Second, this Mozilla installation used to display these two
respective pages correctly. Third, there are two other linux PC's using
Fedora Core 2 on the local network. They both show the two pages correctly
(as does the one Windows XP box.) Fourth, after installing Opera on the PC
in question, it correctly displays the two respective web pages.

So, whatever is causing Mozilla to display the one page when the URL for
the other is entered seems to be entirely within this one program install. 

Looks like the simplest route to repair will be to uninstall and then
reinstall Mozilla. When I get a few minutes to devote to that, I'll try it
and report back.
