Question on restoring files

To whom it concerns: How does one restore files from a back up cd to the 
present Mozilla? Using Linux I backed up the past Mozilla, only now I do 
not know which files on the cd are the ones I need to restore from? What 
would the icons read? How do I darken the text of outgoing messages, 
like this one?
