Dear All,

On this Debian machine I have Firefox 1.0 installed from the Debian
packages. It uses TrueType fonts, but I recall having to hack
something initially to make them work. That was long ago and they have
continued working each time I upgraded.

I have just installed Mozilla 1.8b using the official installer. It
doesn't use my TrueType fonts and they aren't listed in the available
fonts in the preferences.

Google found the suggestion to set font.FreeType2.enable to true and to
set font.directory.truetype.1 to something suitable which sounded
familiar, but I have tried it without effect. Also, looking in
about:config in Firefox I see that it has font.FreeType2.enable FALSE.

I am confused (and a bit annoyed that this doesn't "just work"). Does
anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks.
