Thank you both for answers.

I have found a solution to my problem. I tried to install the developer 
package as well. It wanted newer versions of libnspr4 and libnss3. So I 
installed those and then my firefox 1.0.2 suddenly worked just fine :)

Problem solved. I do not know why the ordenary firefox-rpm did not 
complain about too old versions of libnspr4 and libnss3.
