Java problem on Solaris 7

I compiled firefox 1.04 on Solaris 7 (SPARC) using gcc 2.95.3.
It runs, but there's a java problem.  I made the link in the
plugins directory.  Now when firefox starts it says,
LoadPlugin() /usr/j2se/jre/plugin/sparc/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so returned fe260 

Could this be related to the version of gcc?
