firefox, fontconfig, japanese

Hello!

I'm running Firefox on Linux and have jis fonts installed. But Firefox
stubbornly refuses to show any japanese text. When I go to
Edit->Preferences->Fonts&Colors and then try to set fonts for the
Japanese the dialog gives me only listing of TrueType fonts that is
provided by fontconfig (fc-list).

Is there any way to tell Firefox to use non-truetype fonts? Or do I have
to find and install some true-type that contains japanese?
