First let me say this loud and clear: I DESPISE MICRO$HAFT!!  (And, yes, 
I meant to shout.)

Now, with that out of the way...I think you're just wrong about this.  I 
only have 'doze on a couple of my computers, but they were able to 
connect to Mozilla.org and download files without problems.  They're 
both XP boxes, one with SP1 and the other SP2.  I have no idea what the 
problem is at your end, but I really don't think it's another one of 
Micro$haft's underhanded tactics.
