Odd to say the least. Matrox G550 board here, latest drivers they 
produced for Win2K. Thus since 1.7.8 was fine and now there is a bug 
with 1.7.11, and Matrox has not been changed in a long time... you can 
guess where my finger points.

I don't intend to migrate web browser core standards until moving to XP. 
At that point FireFox or who knows what...
