Pull Downs truncate top entry

I have a page where there is a pulldown.  When the top entry is
TransactionCentral (it is selected automatically), Firefox will often
display "Trans" in the box, and if you click on the box to get the full
pulldown displayed, then the pulldown displays "TransactionCentral"
properly, although the box will still show "Trans". If you do a reload,
it will usually reload and display correctly, and sometimes on a reload
it will go from displaying correctly to displaying the truncated
version.

Is there any work around for this?
