Stop the .xpi from Windows.

Is there any way to stop Windows 98SE from adding the .xpi to file names 
when downloading files.

I don't know what it is, and I have no need for it, but Netscape 7.x adds 
it too the end of any file name.

I would like to stop it but don't know how.
