How do you sign an XPI file

I have an XPI file that will check to see if an ActiveX control of
mine is currently installed and is given permission to run in
ActiveX.js.  My question is that I have a verisign certificate for the
ActiveX control in which I sign a cab file.  Can I use the same
certificate to sign the xpi file.  If so how?  If not then what do I
need to do to get my xpi file signed.
