Stefan, InstallTrigger.compareVersion() always returns -5 in current 
mozilla versions so you should't use that.

Can you define plugin for me (Mozilla add-on, Mozila Firefox extension, 
or a real plugin)?

Note: you might have access to the version info for your add-on / 
extension. That can be used like this:

http://foo.bar.org/update.html?currentVersion=somenumber
