[Enigmail] key import failed

When I try to import a new key into enigmail I have started getting the message "no vey imported." I also get the warning “verification failed”

I have tried importing keys from several different contacts with the same result. The import still fails even if I try copying the key to my desktop and then importing or

importing form clipboard. Any ideas?
