Hi Kai, Simply use the settings to change the master password, that has the result of using the improved protection. In theory, if you aren't worried that someone might already have broken your old one, you could even reuse the same password - that is - enter the same same password in both the "old" and "new" password fields this step should NOT be required to be carried out by the user! Instead, if TB notices that it's still using the old algo, it should re-encrypt itself to the new standard (as soon as the correct old passphrase is entered correctly). Also, old database files should be overwritten and then deleted by Thunderbird itself.
