Well, for what it's worth, from reading various sources close to the 
original production, there is a great divergence of opinion on what it 
meant.

I just generate a barcode for the wording "No.6" at 
<https://www.barcodesinc.com/generator/index.php>. I just tried it with 
a barcode reader and it works.
