The link you provided does not seem to agree with you.

Besides, if your expectation is what should happen, than why do "foreground" 
script still run when JS is disabled ?  :-)

I'm going to see if the patch they mention in that link you posted is 
applicable to FF v52 too (I'm guessing it refers to one of the two main 
".ja" files).

By the way, thank you for posting that link.  It both confirms I did not 
overlook something stupid *and* points in the direction of a possible fix.

Also: the last entry on the page you linked to is a request to backport to 
the ESR.  I'm guessing that he refers to v52.x.  Can you see if the fix was 
actually backported ?   Definitily not to 52.5.0 (thats the one I have), but 
maybe a bit later version ?
