Last year, many more laptops and notebooks were sold in the USA,
driven by working/schooling at home, and most of them were Chromebooks.

Recent ChromeOS supports Linux apps so you ought to be able to run
Firefox and T'bird. This is not some some geeky hack, but a proper feature
AFAICS.

When the Pixel Slate was discontinued - it runs ChromeOS - I seriously
considered getting one for this ability. I didn't because, although I
liked the idea of Linux on a tablet, I couldn't think that the ChromeOS
part was much use. 

Maybe I'll get a Pinetab - if it ever appears. Meanwhile, I use an
Android tablet.
