     Mozilla doesn't physically operate it.  Ever since it was created
in January, 2006, news.mozilla.org has been hosted on/by Giganews.
That's what Chris was referring to when he wrote "Sometime after that,
Giganews will shut down news.mozilla.org, and you will no longer be
able to access the newsgroup" in his announcement.

     The Firefox and Thunderbird support newsgroups can be found on
many Usenet news servers, but they're not officially distributed to
Usenet.  Some renegade system somewhere is operating what's called a
"suck feed", pulling most m.s.f and m.s.t posts from news.mozilla.org
and feeding them into Usenet.  As has been mentioned elsewhere, it's
one-way traffic.  Nothing that's posted to those newsgroups from a
Usenet server ever appears on news.mozilla.org.
