This is what you can do with the current trunk. Pango's support for 
MathML is not great, so it is not the defualt option for now.

The best if the patch is already there in 1.7. is just recompile your 
own version of Mozilla with --enable-pango and upgrade to a recent pango.

If not, well I'd just go for 1.8 rather than try to understand what 
exactly the patch consists of, and applying it to 1.7.
