Systems Administrator will provide hands-on technical leadership to
systematically think about how best to design, build and manage a
world-class server infrastructure to support our products.

Responsibilities:

* Overall management of our infrastructure strategy, including our
collocation facilities, network and physical layout, design, and the
integration required to scale our web services from tens to hundreds of
millions of clients
* Management and delivery of a 24x7 "on call" system for production
services between Foundation staff, partners and volunteers
* Implementation and ownership for security policies, organization-wide
backup and disaster recovery planning and compliance
* Analysis and design of cycle-saving (or cycle-enhancing) technologies
to improve the overall efficiency of operations, e.g. clustering, LVS,
load-balancing, proxies and caching mechanisms
* Design and development of extensible, automated and web-based tools
to scale network and server operations efficiently
* General troubleshooting and gremlin bashing to keep our mission
critical infrastructure up and running smoothly

Requirements:

* Affinity for open environments that encourage education, cooperation

* Exceptional communication, organization and leadership skills
* Ability to organize and rally a community of staff, partners and
volunteers to accomplish organizational goals
* Strong systems administration experience across all major platforms,
including expertise in web services lifecycle management, e.g. capacity
planning, deployment, maintenance, and upgrade/migration
* Strong network management, engineering and architecture experience
including specific expertise in network virtualization, and leading
performance analysis and improvement across all network layers
* Ability to design and develop extensible automated and web-based
tools using Perl, PHP and shell scripts
