We are a NYC-based, startup Application Service Provider that needs a software engineer with good problem solving and communication skills to join our development team. Our application uses the Mozilla Foundation¹s XUL platform on the client side and J2EE on the backend. Deep, hands-on experience on one or both of these platforms and an enthusiasm for learning the latest open source development paradigms are a must. You will be joining a small, world-class team of software engineers. We are a progressive team that uses the latest in open source technologies in our development environment (Eclipse, Maven, Confluence, Jira) and for our frameworks (Spring, Webwork, Hibernate, Velocity). We take a pragmatic, agile approach to software development. Familiarity with these platforms and experience with agile software development methodologies are a big plus. The engineer we are seeking should have the following technical qualifications: 1. At least 3 years of heavy-duty programming experience using Java in an MVC framework. 2. Client-side programming experience, including experience using DHTML or XUL. 3. Experience and interest in semantic web technologies (XML, REST, RDF, AJAX). 4. The ability to understand and implement the right technology for the right problem. This person must also: 1. Understand and enjoy the unique pressures and rewards of working at a startup. 2.
