I'm the founder of Metastart, the temporary name of my U.S. start-up with
development in India, and we're creating new software (our own product)
using the Mozilla Source Code. The software we're developing is motivated
by the general movement to a net-based lifestyle--we're no longer in 1995
where one literally did just browse a few websites. Today, our lives are
net-centered and we believe that client applications we use to access the
net can do a better job of organizing and facilitating this net-based life.

We're immediately hiring and hope to build a team of 5-7 brilliant,
independently motivated programmers who want to create a great and
innovative product. Right now, we're planning to develop the entire product
in India. For persons from other countries, if you're willing to move to
India for 6-12 months to build a team and get processes in place, we can I'm
sure work out off-site work thereafter. Within India, we haven't fixed a
location yet, but the location will be one of the IT hubs like Hyderabad or
Bangalore.

It's a quite exciting project and also quite challenging. In terms of
technical details, we're seeking a lead who's delivered multiple large-scale
client applications on multiple platforms, knows agile programming
methodologies, and is expert in bug-checking, automating testing, managing
large source code, and mentoring junior team members. The Mozilla source
code and platform is as all of you know massive and uses multiple
languages. This is technically a quite challenging project just in terms of
managing the size and complexity of the project--and specific problems we
need to solve require real brilliance in problem solving and algorithm
generation. While the lead(s) should be quite well-versed in almost all of
the above as well as know C/C++ and multiple scripting languages, junior
members should have a solid CS foundation and have some mastery of the above
languages and skill requirements.

The software will work in conjunction with several websites we will build
most likely in Python or Ruby--so we're also in need of web developers in
either of those languages with experience building highly customized and
scale-able sites in Python or Ruby ideally within open source CMS and other
environments.

In terms of compensation, we offer a competitive salary, a spectacular bonus
if the project is commercially successful, the ability to work independently
and build a team, and exceptionally exciting and challenging work.

If you feel you fit the profile, write us!! Send a letter describing your
interest in programming/computing/mozilla/internet as well as your CV to:
[email protected].

If you have any general advice on working with the Mozilla source code and
building Mozilla-based applications...please send us your thoughts and we'd
love to be in touch generally.

Of course, don't hesitate to forward this e-mail to anyone you think could
be a good fit or anyone who may know others who could be.

Thanks,
Alok, MetaStart
