Mozilla is looking for a motivated and experienced full-time developer to help make the web better. You will build web applications to support our products and empower our growing community. Our teams are small, motivated and focused. We face unique challenges in user experience requirements, localization and scalability often having to solve tough problems when integrating all three. Web developers we'd like to work with: - 3+ years of JavaScript software development experience - 4+ years of web development in PHP, Python, Ruby, Perl or equivalent - Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) - Phenomenal debugging principles, tenacity and energy - Strong understanding of web application scalability principles - Tendency to write tests (unit and functional) even if you don't want to - Excellent communication and collaboration skills - Previous experience with DHTML, CGI, CSS, AJAX and other web applications - Familiarity with web frameworks like CakePHP, Rails, Pylons, etc. - Cheery, polite and rational team player Mozilla web applications are used globally by millions of people, so this is the perfect opportunity to show the world what you and your code can do. You can expect appreciative community members to heap praise on you for your efforts, or at least help you debug your work. The Onus is on you to: - Work towards weekly and bi-weekly deadlines on the development of high-visibility, high-quality web products - Proactively recommend architecture changes and suggest new coding practices - Work with product team to assess feasibility and priority of new features - Collaborate with server-side programmers to optimize scalability and network efficiency - Assist in testing regularly scheduled releases - Develop debugging tools as necessary - Stay up-to-date with competing technologies - Get stuff done Bonus Material: - Experience with localized (l10n, l18n) applications and methods - You enjoy writing tests (unit and functional) - Passion for open source, you are not only a user but a contributor - Great sense of humor If you are interested, please send an email with your resume or code samples, or both, to [email protected].
