Roderick,

That is expected behavior, while mplayer is in connecting mode it
doesn't respond to slave commands like "quit" and so I have to put the
plugin into non-blocking mode so that the ui does not hangup.

This problem does not happen with gecko-mediaplayer since mplayer is out
of process in that situation.
