 Sounds like a good guess to me :) But since I am not familiar with 
mplayerplug-in code I could not find an answer yet.

 I am running on tr_TR.UTF-8 locale and MPlayer is compiled for Turkish 
language. This usually happens with "ğ", "ş", "ı" characters of Turkish. 
Especially the I/ı problem [1], in Turkish lowercase I is not i but it is ı 
(dotless i).

 I am compiling MPlayer with --enable-color-console , I also compiled without 
this option in case it was the troublemaker but it did not have any effect. 

 Attached is the color, noncolor, inside firefox (mplayerplug-in debug set) 
and single MPlayer outputs redirected with &> in shell.
