and happens since today, as last week was working fine even with 
mplayerplugin 3.50.

Well, I should have problably missed some episodes... ;-)
I haven't followed the latest evolution of gecko-mediaplayer. Last time 
was several months ago and was not declared very stable.
If that already surpassing mplayerplug-in I could switch the package for 
cooker. Apart this maybe it's worthwhile to fix the old one signature
for backward compatibility with older releases.
