How can I avoid a blank page (blank tab) when I close the last ta b?

Hello.
 
I tried MultiZilla/1.6.0.0c (on Mozilla 1.5 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U;
Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007)) and find it very good. I had
to uninstall it, though, because every time I press Ctrl+W to close the last
tab, I get a new, blank tab instead, so I had to press Ctrl+W twice to close
the window. As closing browser windows is something I do very often, I can't
live with that.
 
How can I avoid having to press Ctrl+W twice to close a window?
