Multizilla toolbar appearance not sticking?

Hi,

I am using Mozilla 1.6 and just upgraded from Multizilla 1.6.1.0a(?) to
1.6.2.0 and Googlebox 1.4c - both installed "multi-user".  Some nice
added features, but I'm having a problem.
 
I remove some buttons from the Multizilla toolbar, quit Mozilla, restart
it, and the buttons have returned.  What's more, they can't be removed.
If I then reset the Multizilla prefs using Preferential, I can again
modify the toolbar, but the problem recurs.  Additionally the Googlebox
refuses to appear entirely.

I may try the nightly, but wanted to check first if anyone had
encountered this problem before.

I'm not a list subscriber, so Cc me on any replies.
