OS X 10.3 + Mozilla 1.6 + Multizilla = Sorrow

Hello,

Long a fan of Multizilla (while I languished on Windows XP), I am 
finally back where I belong on a Powerbook...

So naturally, I set about installing Mozilla [Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; 
PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113] and adding my 
favorite XPI goodies (Multizilla, AdBlocker).

Problems:

1) My personal toolbar disappears. It's still there in my Bookmarks 
folder, and there's still an empty strip at the top of the window, but 
the strip is empty. I can make the QPrefs and a couple of other 
Multizilla-added buttons appear, but all the lovely bookmarklets and 
places I like to visit are not visible. Spent way too much time Googling 
for this problem and poking around in the preferences window and editors 
to no avail. Mind you, I'm not a Mozilla newbie -- I've been using it 
for years, have been down in the chrome, mucking around with stuff, so I 
know quite a bit about it, but this baffles me.

2) The location bar gets "stuck" on the first thing I enter there, and 
the "Back" button never highlights. This pretty much renders the browser 
useless. I can go to Google, for example, find what I'm interested in 
and click the link, but when I go there, the location bar still says 
"http://www.google.com/" and the Back button is grayed out.

Any advice (/not/ including "go back to Win XP").
