Java Pop Ups don't seem to open under tabs?

Hi,
I am using,
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414
MultiZilla/1.7.0.2d
Multizilla 1.7.0.2d
I enjoy Yahoo's most popular photos,
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=index&cid=1756
They use a javascript popup,
Example:
javascript:openSS('/photos/ss/1756')
I have set my multizilla preferences up to open a tab for java popups.
I don't seem to be able to get Mozilla/Multizilla to open up a new tab
when I click on the link ( "javascript:openSS('/photos/ss/1756') ")?
It opens a new Mozilla Window instead?
It would be perfect (or ideal) if I could click on the link using the
scrolling wheel and get a new tab to pop up while remaining on the "Most
Popular" tab so that I can click again (with the scrolling wheel) and
open up several new javascript tabs of photos from the "Most Popular"
tab.......
Am I doing something wrong?
Is it possible?
Does this make sense to you?
Thanks for such multizilla, but it has kept me from moving to Firefox ;-)
